Atkins – the most efficient weight loss diet




Recent studies have shown that the most efficient diet is based on proteins and fat. However, the diet cannot last long as it leads to severe health issues.
Proteins have to major advantages: they cannot be stored and accelerate the weight loss procedure. Proteins do not transform in fatty deposits, unless they are associated with high quantity of lipids and glucose. Moreover, proteins are difficult to digest; therefore the body consumes more energy to process them. The Danish diet, which based on a large consumption of meat, was told to be the diet that changes metabolism. This naming is half true, as during the diet the metabolism is accelerated.

The main problem concerning proteins is that they cannot be found in pure state, only in combination with sweets or lipids. The highest protein content is in eggs, followed by meat, fish and rice.
If you wish to follow a protein based diet, we recommend to keep it short term (two weeks) and only if general health approves and you don't lack of vitamins. In case the diet is extended, some health problems may occur. Gout is one major health issue generated by excessive consumption of aliments rich in purin – meat leading the list. Constipation is the first problem resulting this diet. More to it, if you keep it too long, the body is forced to burn its own constitutional proteins and you'll lose muscle mass. The Atkins diet is relatively unbalanced. The body needs all major aliments in order to function properly, so in the first days you may experience fatigue.




Recommendations:

- eat soft eggs (hard yolk is tough to digest)
- in case you eat boiled meat, let the water boil first then add the meat. By this the meat preserves all its nutritive properties.

- grated meat shouldn't be dry
- eat more fish, it is easy to digest and contains minerals and healthy fat.
- avoid semi prepared meat; it has high content of additives and fat.

The first phase of Atkins lasts 1-2 weeks and you eat meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, butter, olive oil and olives. After a week of dieting a person may lose 2-4 kilograms. The second phase slowly introduces sweets and lipids in the alimentation. Right after the diet if you eat much sweets and fat, the lost pounds will return and will have company. The original diet recommends max 20 grams of sweets in the first two weeks and then the carb quantity is grown with 5 grams/week till you reach 50 grams of sweets/day. In the third phase the daily quantity of sweets are risen 10 grams/week. During the maintenance at least 90 grams of carbs are recommended.
Atkins is an efficient diet, fact underlined by recent studies at Stanford Prevention Research Center, California. Researchers compared several modern diets and got to the conclusion that women following weight loss have lost twice as more weight than others. Moreover, they showed an improved health, especially at levels of cholesterol and arterial pressure.

Short term results of this kind Atkins diet are excellent, but on the long run it affects health.
